About

What this site is

Forwarded takes viral health messages exactly as they arrive on Indian phones, and holds each one against the best available evidence: what was forwarded, what the studies and guideline bodies actually say, what the honest uncertainties are, and what to do instead. Every evidence sentence carries a source you can open; every source carries a tier and a date; every page shows its medical review status, and will name the reviewing physician with registration number and date once that review is complete. The site is free, carries no advertising, sets no cookies and runs no trackers.

The five labels

EstablishedConsistent across systematic reviews or major guidelines.
SupportedBacked by good studies, with limits we name.
ExaggeratedA grain of truth stretched past what the evidence shows.
UnsupportedNo credible evidence for the claim.
DangerousFollowing it could cause harm or delay care.

The four source tiers

1Systematic reviews and meta-analyses: Cochrane, Johns Hopkins EPC.
2Guideline bodies: WHO, ICMR, AHA/ACC, ESC, NICE, Indian Resuscitation Council.
3Primary studies in major journals: Lancet, NEJM, JAMA, BMJ, Circulation.
4Physician-reviewed institutional pages: Johns Hopkins Medicine, Mayo, NHS, Cleveland Clinic.

Nothing below tier 4 is cited as evidence. News and fact-check sites are cited only to document that a claim circulates and how widely, and are marked "circulation only". Where the research could not open a primary paper, the page says so in its Honest note and the figures are marked as taken from a summary. Emergency numbers used throughout are 112 (the national Emergency Response Support System, which routes to police, fire and ambulance) and 108 (ambulance); the number scheme is documented in a Factly explainer, which is documentation, not medical evidence.

The review process

Every page is written from the sources it lists and nothing below source tier 4 is cited as evidence. Review by a named registered physician is being arranged; until a page carries the reviewer's name, registration number and date, it shows a "Medical review: being arranged" notice and should be read as a sourced guide, not as medical advice. Pages are not promoted until reviewed.

Corrections

If a page is wrong, incomplete or out of date, write to [email protected]. Corrections are made on the page itself, dated, and listed in that page's Corrections section; the original wording is not silently removed. Each page also carries staleness flags in its Honest note where a source is pre-2023 or where a newer guideline may exist.
